Sunshine, Suits and Swift

Summer is, for me, the best season to dress for because I absolutely love wearing bright colours. In particular, yellow is definitely one colour which screams summer and I have spotted so many gorgeous pieces in shops this season; if only my bank account was limitless.

Another trend I am always loving are the brightly coloured suits which I have seen so many people wearing on Instagram. I was on the lookout and was especially desperate after Taylor Swift’s ‘ME!’ music video came out and there was an array of women dancing in every colour of suit imaginable. As you may have guessed by now I am slightly in love with everything Taylor Swift does and wears,so this solidified my eagerness to purchase my own suit.

Therefore, when I found this bright yellow suit from Miss Selfridge I was immediately obsessed since it is two of my favourite summer trends combined. I especially love the fact that the bottoms are Bermuda shorts which seem totally remiscent of the outfit Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman- one of the most enviable movie wardrobes of all time.

Before I buy anything, I always try to make sure it is a smart decision- anyone else hear their mum’s sensible voice in their head asking “when would you actually wear this?”. What I love about this look is that there are so many ways to wear it, especially if you have a summer occasion coming up and want something a little different. I wore it to my brother’s graduation but also plan to swap the heels for trainers in future.

Even though I know a lot of people can be scared to wear brighter colours, they always give me so much confidence and make me feel like myself. They are also one of the best ways to get you out of a style rut, forcing you out of your comfort zone by thinking of new colour and outfit combinations.

A suit like this is always a good investment in my eyes because you can wear it together or separately. The yellow blazer goes perfectly with a t shirt and jeans for a shopping day out in town, while the Bermuda shorts are a great addition to any holiday wardrobe day or night. Here I am wearing it with a very cute sunflower t-shirt from New Look. It is honestly one of those power outfits which made me feel more confident and true to my personal style and I cannot wait to wear it again and again, even if my dad did call me a banana.

Hello! My name is Stephanie Elizabeth, I am a student/ writer/ fashion lover from Scotland . From a young age, fashion has been an immensely important aspect of my life, and in the past few years this love has grown from my discovery of Hollywood legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Diane Keaton and many more. Through this admiration, I was able to appreciate the many eras of fashion and the unique interpretations of style which keep it interesting and ever changing; it is the individual takes which I love the most, as it is completely expressive and different for every one of us. So, I am excited for this next chapter of my life to see how my own style( and life) evolves during university, lots of travelling( I hope) and beyond.
