How To Style The Blazer

I have probably mentioned before that I have so much love for sometimes 80s and always 90s fashion and am constantly inspired by movies from those decades for my clothing choices. In particular, I have always loved the oversized blazers with shoulder pads like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman but until recently I was not sure if I could pull the look off.

However, recently I found a blazer in River Island  which I loved; it was the perfect mix of looking a bit 90s but still modern because of the bright shade of mustard yellow which is very trendy this year. And a bonus was that it was in the sale so I got it for £35 down from £70!

One thing I love about a good blazer is that it can make always dress up any simple, casual outfit. I wore this blazer with a black t shirt and ripped jeans, but adding the blazer and a pair of heels immediately made it the perfect outfit for an evening out for dinner or drinks.

Or if you wanted to wear it during the day then simply swapping the heels for trainers would give it an instantly more casual look, while still clearly making an effort to look stylish.

I really love this look, I love how a blazer can immediately make you feel more confident; it is the perfect blend of masculinity and femininity to give you a powerful outfit for any occasion.

I hope it inspires you to seek out your own shoulder padded piece of style heaven.

Sincerely,

Stephanie x

Hello! My name is Stephanie Elizabeth, I am a student/ writer/ fashion lover from Scotland . From a young age, fashion has been an immensely important aspect of my life, and in the past few years this love has grown from my discovery of Hollywood legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Diane Keaton and many more. Through this admiration, I was able to appreciate the many eras of fashion and the unique interpretations of style which keep it interesting and ever changing; it is the individual takes which I love the most, as it is completely expressive and different for every one of us. So, I am excited for this next chapter of my life to see how my own style( and life) evolves during university, lots of travelling( I hope) and beyond.
