From a young age, fashion has been an immensely important aspect of my life- from the ages of five until ten I would do nothing but design really bad dresses on paper and make catalogues of my designs, selling for 50p a dress- and in the past few years this love has grown from my discovery of old movies and the Hollywood legends that come with them. Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly have an elegance and class that can make even the simplest of outfits look exquisite, and my love for that 1950s glamour filters through to the creation of my own style, while Diane Keaton is another muse for me because of her unique clothes which changed the face of women’s fashion. She was able to make the most masculine outfits feminine, and through her confidence she convinced the world that she looked stylish doing it. So many women like this can teach us that it is not completely about what you are wearing, but how you wear it and to wear every outfit with confidence and class.
Through this admiration, I was able to appreciate the many eras of fashion and the unique interpretations of style which keep it interesting and ever changing; it is the individual takes which I love the most, as it is completely expressive and different for every one of us.
That is why I have so many different muses on my Pinterest account and so many fashion icons- from Olivia Palermo to some of my own best friends, as it is impossible for me to pinpoint my style with a few words, sometimes it is preppy, other times it is a little bohemian, but I know that is always important for me to stay slightly classic.
As I have gotten older, my interests have widened and changed but fashion is constantly on my mind, which I credit partly to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and also to the city I have grown up in. I have been incredibly lucky to live in a place where street style is taken very seriously, where the variety of shops is endless from high street to designer to vintage, and where the people are just really friendly – Glasgow of course! For as long as I can remember I have been walking up Buchanan Street shopping for something special or anything at all and to this day it is my favourite way to spend my weekends.
So, I hope this intrigues you to tag along while I start my very own blog and write about the things I am constantly learning about fashion, my own style and life. Hope you enjoy!
